Virtually free pet sitting is now available to millions of cat and dog owners in Britain and America - thanks to a new community resource on the net.

Pet Sitter Swap puts like-minded pet owners - who live close to each other - in touch with each other.

Members vet each other with a combination of member feedback and references. Referees vouch for members' suitability, reliability and trustworthiness.

No fees are paid for any pet minding session and no agencies are involved.

Pet Sitter Swap helps to ensure that no animal will be left at home alone for any longer than is absolutely necessary.

It can be used by owners of all pets when they go on holiday, for an evening out, a weekend away, or just about any other pet minding instance.

The website is based on a very simple concept. Pet Sitter Swap calculates and then lists just how close members live to each other, based on their Postcodes. Members who can help out one another as pet sitters make initial contact through Pet Sitter Swap . They then arrange to meet and only if both pet owners judge each other to be suitable sitters does any pet minding take place.

"Members who visit each other's homes to let out the cat or feed the fish will also open or draw the curtains and help give an impression of a house that's lived in, rather than one where the owners are clearly away on holiday."
